We are at a remarkable crossroads in history: Recent events are challenging the arc of progress and prosperity and upending fundamental beliefs about globalization, international cooperation and the enduring nature of democracy. The Athens Democracy Forum, convened in early October by the Democracy & Culture Foundation in association with The New York Times, brought together leading policymakers, business leaders, scholars and other experts to define, assess and tackle the critical questions facing the world today.
World Review 2021 is a unique collection of opinion essays written by leading political, cultural and economic influencers published in conjunction with the Athens Democracy Forum. The collection also includes four Q&As featuring forum attendees. World Review examines the push and pull of progress, the disruptions of technological evolution and the impacts of globalization.
